Karpatos este un hibrid NOU, extratimpuriu de pepene galben tip Galia clasic, de la Rijk Zwaan. Prezintă legare de rod foarte bună în perioada timpurie. Plantele au vigoare medie spre mare, iar frunzele sănătoase oferă o acoperire suficientă pentru fructe. Denumire anterioară - cod RZ 34-017. Plantele dezvoltă 5-6 fructe perfect uniforme și de formă rotundă. Greutatea medie a fructelor este cuprinsă între 1,8 – 2,0 kg. Coaja își schimbă culoarea din galben deschis în galben închis când fructele sunt la maturitate deplină. Pulpa are culoare galben deschis, verzui și este gustoasă. Nivelul 13 pe scara Brix, confirmă gustul dulce și aromat al fructelor. Coaja nu este sensibilă la infecțiile provenite din sol. Fructele conțin gena LSL - maturarea se continuă după recoltare. Recomandăm cultivarea în câmp deschis, iar pentru o mai bună timpurietate recomandăm protejarea cu tunel de folie sau agrotextil (Covertan). Recomandăm 9000 plante/ha.
